The Missoula Oblongata

For three days a band of sixteen friends and strangers gathered objects and stories to make a performance roguhly entitled, "Hurray for the Mysterious Wonder Balloon." Based on the collaborative playwriting process of the Missoula Oblongata (a touring performance troupe and happenstance instigators of this workshop) this motley ensemble built three ambitious and eyebrow-raising chunks of theatrical innovation. When all was said and done, even more friends and strangers poured through the portal's of the Rotunda in West Philly to see what all the hubbub was about.

About the Mysterious Wonder Balloon:

Here's what participants have said of the process:

“There is something very wonderful and powerful about being told anything is possible
onstage—and being given the opportunity to make the impossible happen.”

“I felt completely unlimited and encouraged to rack my brain for the most unusual, compelling, and nontraditional things I wanted to do onstage. And the results, while not 100% what I envisioned, made me ecstatic.”

“How freeing the lack of limitations were! The freedom to make anything onstage I want. A big gift.”

"There will be margarine."
